I made this super quick print yesterday for two competing shows that are right next to each other.

Pegasus is the monthly queer party that I help organize. It is continually amazing, and I am always so surprised at the level of interest and talent that all the performers bring. Fucked up drag, good music, and one of the cosiest places to hang.

Pegasus: "Spring Fever" feat. the velveteens (they play beats on a typewriter), Lambs of God (boombox, vocals about catholic guilt), DJ's Gay Pain (that's me) and Tell it to my Heart.

Here's a 2 color poster I did for an upcoming art show I'm in.

it's called Flocked: a wallpaper project. the show consists of about 30 different artists who have created either an image in multiple (i.e. print) or some kind of series of 5 images. each "cell" will be placed at random on one wall of my friend Anna Tsantir and Nick's studio. Creating this huge checkerboard of all different small pieces. Should be fun.

the Poster was an attempt to illustrate that Covered feeling. I collaborated with my good friend Jessica Seamans of Landland. She drew the feet, I drew the dogs and did the layout and printing. I think it is pretty great for a quick, 2 color smackdown.

This is not your grandmother’s wallpaper. Studio mates Nick Howard, Anna Tsantir and Vincent Murray invited 30 local artists to create prints, drawings and multimedia two dimensional works that will be combined to cover a 22’x10’ studio wall floor to ceiling. Each artist created at least five works no larger than 10”x15” that together will loosely mimic the repetition of a wallpaper pattern. So "flock" over to the Carriage House this art a whirl weekend, and see what they've come up with.

Hey. Thanks to everyone who came out to the art show last Saturday. I worked my BUTT off getting that installation ready. Pixxx of the whole thing to come.

Just finished this collab with my friend Anna Tsantir. She is amazing and makes very mysterious polymer plate prints. We're having a VERY informal art show in her studio. I'm going to be making some larger pieces and she's doing some wall collages and paintings. It should be really funnnnn! We just slammed this poster out a minute ago and I think I like it.

I've been OBCESSED with parade imagery for the last while and I see it being a theme of future work.

I have a couple pieces in the Radar Eyes: A Survey of Hallucinogenic Printmaking group show that was curated by Ruben Kincaid and my pals Seripop. This is the 2nd time the show has been shown. I went to the opening in Chicago and it was seriously mindblowing. Check out amazing works by Mat Brinkman, Sakura Maku, Greg Pizzoli, Mat Daly, Sonnenzimmer, Seripop and so so so much more. The show is HUGE. so much work, it's insane.

I recently sent over a package of posters to Insound for their online store. They wrote about me in their blog. And they are sending me a check for some posters. I like them. and when I can afford it, I buy records from them.

It is 3am. I'm sitting in the Logan international airport in Boston waiting for Airtran to open their gates so I can check in my luggage and GET HOME! I had such a magical time in Providence. I made art, met lots of amazing people, hung out with old friends, had visitors. It was so amazing to see all the inner workings of AS220. It's a very very interesting model for an arts org. Check out their website and marvel at my friend Arley's amazing typographic skills that grace pretty much every form of correspondence for the place.
The last 24 hours have been crazy. I printed a 4 color print, slept 2 hours, prepped for my artist talk, gave the presentation, drank a whiskey, said goodbye to my new friends, packed up my temporary room and my prints and got to the train station to catch the last train to boston.

I'm heading home at this ungodly hour BECAUSE i'm going to be in this poster art show at the venerable Walker Art Center. It's going to be a very casual affair. Poster tables set up in one of the lobbies where local posternerds will be lurking around tables selling their work. It's in conjunction with the walker's screening of Died Young Stayed Pretty. Which is a documentary that makes poster people look like freaks and social outcasts. (are we?)

UNPLANNED PREGNANCY!

I'm currently on a work bingggge. I finished this layout WAY later than I wanted to. and now I'm going to have to print all 4 layers tomorrow. Which is totally doable, because I am only printing like 25 or 30 of these.

I spent a million years drawing all these drawings and then hating them, and then collaging other drawings and stuff into a design that I despised, and then finally, just when I was going to give up I found this picture of this woman and then everything came together. It works perfectly (IMO) because she's about to speak into the mic, but there's these black bars over her mouth. And then in her hat there's a strange, mean geisha looking drawing with all these bands of colors with symbols in them. I've been really thinking alot about subliminal, unconscious and unknowable language. So, just like the woman, she is veiled in all these halftoned modernist lanterns (lightbulb goes on A HA!) and then there's the little spark at the top, making it a real A HA moment. and then there's a bunch of other symbols printed underneith the black layer, so you won't be able to see them until you hold the print up and see the texture of the ink. DETAILS. and another veiled layer of communication. That's the idea. and it was sort of happenstance and accidental that I got there, but I'm currently happy.

I am now going to start compiling notes and images for my end of residency presentation on Wed. I'm hella nervous about it for some reason, although excited to have to research on stuff that I enjoy so much.

GO TOWARD THE LIGHT!

I didn't set out to do this AT ALL, but I ended up making this design, and it really reminds me of 70's religious art. I like it, and it feels different from some of my stuff, but it's also kind of weird. I was trying to depict a deathbed. What do you think?

I have to say that having my own screen setup is very luxurious. I love the communal aspect of working in the shop, but some of the chaos and unpredictability of not knowing when/how/how long..etc. you will be able to work, can be stressfull. but don't get me wrong.. this residency has given me a ton of ideas, and sort of planted the seed for wanting to start a community print shop in minneapolis. I think it really has to be done. There is fancy schmancy Hipoint center for printmaking, and then all the letterpress stuff at the Open book, but I feel like both places don't really engage with the community like the printshop here. ohhhh dreams. anyway. back to draw.

extrapolated from the dithering technique and drawings from an earlier poster. this one i wanted to get a bit more looose and crazy. and this one turned out to have a good horror film poster vibe, which i'm stoked about.

providence is SO SO SO MUCH FUN! i've been drawing every day, doing stream of conscious abstract stuff, hanging out with tons of friends, having visitors, and taking everything in. I want to live here, or at least have a second home here.

I'm doing a print based on some photos of a menacing leatherdaddy and his dog...more sharpieface and body drawings, a cinder block and hopefully some more really big, many colored prints!

Working on no sleep. Heading to Providence.
Wanted to print this thing before I left, but it looks like it will be the first thing that I print in the AS220 cooperative Print shop.

4 color silkscreen. WHOOOO! overprints. This is the cover for my band Gay Beast's new seven inch on Gilgongo Records. It has the first song that we ever wrote together!

I'm going to be living, making, and talking about art in lovely Providence RI for one whole month. If you are in the area, COME VISIT! I'm going to catch up on my running, and hang out at the libraries, indulging in art for arts sake.

I've also started an art print that contains some of these colorwheel thingies. It's one of the many things that I'm sending out for inclusion in a very exciting experimental silkscreen book that I was asked to be in. More on that later.

now to pack, and tie up all the billions of loose ends. OOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHH!

So a fellow gay in town was putting together a "Picnic Operetta" here in town and asked a gay poster artist (me) to do it. It's Orpheus and Eurydice and it's going to be performed in various gardens around the city during August and September.

it's dumb that i've never done it before, but I printed the posters 2 up on the same sheet. Plus, since I didn't want to list all the performance, I printed separate cards that match the poster that overlay to be put on for each specific performance. there are 8 total. MODULAR

Paper Trains!

Just sent off a batch of these record covers for the really really rad chicago band Paper Mice. I'm super glad they asked me, because the record was a good challenge for me. Dave writes the best, and most hilarious lyrics, so even though doing the typesetting for 16 songs was a chore, I could always find entertainment in the words.

All the songs are about really ubsurd, real life stories that he read in the news. Their band name is referring to different comic book mouse characters. I didn't want to go to literal with either their band name, or the title of the record, so I went with something childish and nostalgic (trains) and tried to collage together drawings and photocopies, for a "papery" aesthetic.

Type for inserts and back cover was typed with a typewriter, and then I went in and removed some of the serifs on all the characters. which also, took forever.

Here's a mockup of a t-shirt that I just printed for the outrageous local band Unicorn Basement.
I set out to do something completely different, but what ended up was this thing. It sits very big on the shirt, and was printed on Teal, pink and grey shirts. My favorite parts are the little drawings at the bottom...and how the colored arrow points to yr pit. Using that severed fingers with legs thing again for sure.

HUGE PROJECT IS ALMOST COMPLETE

I've been under this gun for what seems like forever. I've been printing my band Gay Beast's record covers and now the printing is done. My back and neck and triceps hurt like hell, but hopefully it was worth it.
Printing is done, but now we have to cut, score, fold, tape and stuff .

o.k. got to get that out.
So I recently got hired to do this tour poster for my friends in the band To Kill A Petty Bourgeoisie. I did their last Euro tour print and that thing was a nightmare to print, because I didn't know what I was doing. This time around, I had learned a few tricks and was more ready for the job...well, at least I thought I was. I of course waited until the very last minute to do the poster, I was finishing the design two days before they left, and had 1 day to do all the printing. This would be fine, but I had to work the day that I wanted to print, so everything was pushed back until I got offf work at 11pm. I printed about 150 of these suckers from burning screens to finished product from 11pm to 9am. I didn't sleep.
o.k. but before I went to work that day I sent the band a proof of the design. they were totally into it, but they wanted me to add text that said the name of the other band on tour and they wanted it to say "tour 'o9". Fine, I said. Rushing to redo the text before heading to Kinkos to print out the separations and go to wwork.

I'm printing and printing and printing and then at 7 am in the morning, I realize. TO MY HORROR, I MISSPELLED THEIR BAND NAME! Oh God! This has happened to me 2wice. where I've misspelled really really important details. luckily the first time, I had enough time to reprint everything. This time, NO. They were leaving at like 3pm the next day and I physically just couldn't bring myself to figure out a way to print over my mistake and reposition the text. So I just had to deal with it.

I talked to the band the next day and I confessed. They were all stressed because of other tour details and they said it wasn't a big deal, but I felt fucking awefull about it. I still do. Anyway. I ended up giving them a discount on the prints, and told them to bring back any of the ones that they don't sell, and i'll print over them, repositioning the text and correcting the spelling mistake.
BOURGEOISIE is spelled BOURGEOISIE not, BOURGEIOSIE. UGH.

it's just terrible because the first go around, I was obcessing about getting the name spelled right. I quadruple checked. but then when they needed that last minute change, I must have just been looking at how all the text was fitting into it's little area, and spacing and other stuff, and I just overlooked it.

Lesson Learned. No matter how tired, or out of it, or dumb you feel. ALWAYS proof your text like 5 times before printing separations. Suffice to say, it will NEVER happen again.

The image is pretty. it's a drawing that I did on my friend Anna's face. I drew on her with a sharpie, took a photo, and printed it out, and then traced it. It was really nice to draw on someone. i'm going to do it again. I was trying to do some kind of goth version of the TARKUS cover. If you don't know. look it up.

oh. and I couldn't stand looking at the incorrect text anymore, so I switched it.
moving fucking on. I'm printing LP inserts today. Tons of band stuff in the works. Tees, aprons, 7'' , LP. etc. etc. etc.

Yes. I've been anxiously working on this album art for a while now. Glad it's done. Here is the panels from my band Gay Beast's album "Second Wave". It's coming out on Skin Graft records on May 25th. It's gunna be a jewel case CD. and then a super duper deluxxxe 4 color silkscreened gatefold cover, with a silkscreened 4 color process insert. I think that my arms are going to fall off, but it will be worth it. Colors will be tttweaked for LP version. Couldn't have done the computrixx w/out my pal paul.

POWER ELECTRONICS!!!!

So recently, a good friend of mine asked me to do the layout for his most recent limited edition CD. His project is called Slapping Purses. It's like, noisey electro stuff. Very gooood.
Anyway. He had some specific requirements. He wanted it to be a 4 color process print, and since the record is called "Diamonds Are Forever", he wanted there to be explicit liz taylor imagry.

I only included one image of liz, but did a bunch of very opulant colored pencil drawings that surround her. I'm experimenting with drawing in color (marker, acrilic pens, colored pencil etc.) and seeing how halftoning affects those marks.

It ended up being a lot of work doing the layout (thanks P!), and I haven't even started printing the bitch, but here's what we got.

Cover image: those are scanned in fleshtones from a gay porn mag. and also liz taylors face. I think she would approve.

BANANAS!!!!!

Here are a couple installation shots from the print show that I was recently in. It shows the banana wallpaper that I made for the show. I printed about 1000 2 color wallpaper panels on yellow paper. I plastered the wall, and then had a stack of free prints at the base of the wall. Unfortunately I don't have a pic of an individual panel, but they are 18'' X 18'' squares of interlocking grid bananas. I actually put artificial banana scent in the ink, however, the smell has diminished so much that you can barely barely tell it's there. It really sucks, cuz I was VERY sick to my stomach from the banana smell while I was printing them. Anyone know of good scent additives to put in screenprint ink or paint?? If you order a poster from me, I'll mail you a couple panels in addition to yr purchase. HINT HINT.

LIVE TO MAKE MESS!

I am a lucky jerk. My house is amazing, and the best best part, I have a really humungous semi converted attic that houses my print studio. All for $300 a month! and I only share the apt. with 2 people. This is quite a steal, even for us podunk hicks in minneapolis. I took some photos recently of the space, and of a couple test prints to give you a feeeeel. It's messy. it's ghetto. but it's mine.

The main room. Here's my print table, and print rack. I brought the rack up to the attic myself, and I still don't understand how it fit up the tiny winding staircase and all put together all by myself.

This is my print storage system. haha. I REALLY need a flat file, or some storage system STAT. Currently, most prints are just piling up on tables, just covering in dust, and threatening to ruin themselves.

INK, Space heater (it's COLD), and terribly tiny cd player

Here is my exposure "unit". It currently consists of 2 halogen worklights (the red things on the floor) and the glass table that you see. I'm rebuilding a new one this week. I'm getting a bunch of fluorescent fixtures, and i'm going to wire them together in a box directly under the glass top, and put blacklight bulbs in them to get all my exposure times way down.
The exposure table also doubles as a really really bright tracing table. When I'm tired of using tracing paper, I fire it up to work on all my separations.

Here's the guest room / washout area. This is where bands crash when they are coming through town. Unfortunately i've had to wake up a few slumbering souls at 5am when I have to wash out my screen. It's LOUD!!

Here's a closeup of the washout. It's a double sink with the middle cut out. It has no faucet, but it drains to a nearby smaller utility sink with a faucet and hose attachment. My pops helped me do the plumbing. Say hello to my friend P. We're going to backlight this sucker next week as well. FUNN

I'm on a break from printing this lady.

It's a last last minute flyer for my band Gay Beast's show with thee unreal These Are Powers. We finally finally get to play with them. I did a Neptune/ These are Powers poster a while back.
This time around I was a little less hard on myself when drawing the separations. I didn't have an anxiety attack about everything, like I normally do. P helped me out with some trickwickery and layout suggestions. I'm slowly overcoming my fear of photoshop.

I've just been crazy busyyyyyyyyyy with everything all at once.
The Opening for the gallery show following my printmaking residency was last Friday Feb. 6th. It was super fun and tons of folks came out. The show is up at Highpoint Center for Printmaking until the 28th, so check it out.
gallery hours are:

The banana wallpaper was a huge hit. I don't have pixxx yet, but you can see it in this video.
I, along with the other residents were interviewed by this local art video blogger who has a show called "3 Minute Egg".

TEEEE SHIRTTTTTT

This Massachussetts noisey band called DEK BOO asked me to design a t-shirt for them. I've had a few requests for t-shirt designs lately,and I have to say that they are a little hard to design. Tshirts present a problem of creating a cohesive, floating image that works with the form of the body/shirt. Then, on top of that, I have the problem of creating a multiple color image that doesn't require perfect registration. You see, I don't have a t-shirt press in my studio (mark that on my xmas wishlist) so I cannot print designs that have tight/exact registration between colors. So, I have been creating designs that have a little play to accomodate stretching of the shirt, or just being a little offff. The band wanted something abstract to represent their "big" sound, something with subtler colors, and something that wasn't too chaotic. Tell me what you think.

They liked the design. They are ordering t-shirts, and sending them to me...so the colors may vary depending one what shirts I will be printing on.
Big thanks to P for all the computer help. P is becoming my photoshop yoda, showing me that I too have a photoshop force deep within myself, and all I need is some training to unleash it.

Hey hey!
so, I just finished the layout for my band (gay beast 's ) upcoming show FRI. NOV. 28th. SOOOOO SOOOOOO SOOOOO excited for the show. it's with Aids Wolf and Skoal Kodiak. I think it will be the show of the century. or at least the year.

In honor of playing with Chloe and Yannick (of seripop) I kind of went a little nutso on the drawing of this one. and Also, since I've learned such awesome sexxxperimental print techniques from studying their stuff, I decided to attempt some new techniques. It's my first print working with process halftones. I tried to do this weird thing where two of the process colors are actually overprint colors....and black is printed twice. This sounds more mysterious than it actually is. It's hard to see in the pic, but the big blocky shape is a bunch of skyscrapers, and houses, but they are turned upside down. This, and the black text are printed first. Then there is the Cyan (process) color for the veggie people / backround, then Magenta for the banner, veggie people, and backround, then Yellow for banner, backround and veggie people, and then finally black printed again for the last process color in the veggie people, and the backround.

Illo is definitely saul steinberg influenced, and I've had these pics of these adorable felted veggie dolls laying around for a while, wanted to use them.

this is a mockup, but i'll try to take a pic of the final print. Was thinking about doing a little split fountain action for the banners. we'll see how it turns out.
oh. and the band names are upside down.... OMG I'M SO CLEVER AND SUBVERSIVE!!!!

Gang Gang. a computer facsimile

A very controvertial friend helped me scan my drawings in and do this layout for the upcoming Gang Gang Dance / Marnie Stern show. I am pretty happy with it. CRAZY BANANA PEOPLE.!!!! I had those banana drawing sitting around and I thought that their tropical sound really could benefit from a bit of banana action.
I haven't printed it, but it's going to be a 4 color silkscreen. it's something like 18''X23'' or something. and then there's going to be a text out art print that will be bigger.. I think that one is 21'' X 30''. Can't wait to print it! starting tomorrow.

Lots going on right now. 2 t-shirts in the works for the bands Child Abuse, and Dek Boo. T-shirt design for an Israeli promoter, and posters and art prints. I think I'm going to die I'm so busy.

Finally fucking printed up these wire posters.

It's a really bad photo...but it's a 5 color silkscreen. 12'' X 30''
some are very subtle (visible in real life) but all but one of the colors are split fountains. A Split fountain is when you print more than one color ink on the same screen. Hard to explain. See how much better I am at printing than working on a computer. This needs to change.

This other thing is from a couple weeks back. I did a U.S. Girls Tour poster. Megan Remy is behind U.S. girls. it's a tape looping, effect drenched wasted soundtrack. It is great! so I was really happy she asked me to do a poster for her. I was REALLY nervous that she would hate it because she has specific tastes and she gave me really specific directions. I modified and blew up a picture of a 60's girl group The Hearts, and printed all this weirdness on top.
She liked them! which is great. but Megan Remy...please pay me!

While I've been crossing my fingers, hoping that the Wire promoter approves my poster, I realized that i've done nothing to promote my bands show this saturday. Sometimes doing things so quickly, forces you to make simple decisions, and you'll get interesting results. or at least DIFFERENT results....I am trying to diversify the way that I come up with ideas. Here was a 5 minute xerox flyer I did. I grabbed some dark gray paper, grabbed an image of a never-ending sausage from an old catalog, and scrawled some type.
flyer style. Look for a "real" silkscreened poster within the next coupla days.

Hey. it's 3:44 in the A.m. I JUST sent off a proof of this Wire poster that i've been working on. Actually, I got most of the design done a couple days ago, but i've been really anxious about the small task of getting my drawings scanned, and putting the tthing into illustrator to assign colors and get a legitimate proof off to first avenue. I AM NOT USED TO THIS. this whole professsh design proof bullshit. well, here's my sllloppy proof. you'll see how the real thing turns out. there's going to be some crazy split fountains, and all this other junk. it's going to be great.
that is,,,if they approve it. i think it might be a little too odd for them...but you never know.

I have to say. I think my color palett is going to greatly improve with this whole computer business. I feel like I fall into a lot of ruts, because I'm deciding on colors as I'm printing them . 3 color silkscreen Palmfest poster. Everyone at palmfest hated this one. I made it (from drawing to printing) in an all night 8 hour art-orgy.***

It's a bad photo..but here's a tape case that i made for the rad label DNT. (they put out my bands lp). It's for a compilation called MAsh Mansum. Bands included are: Hunting Lodge, Twin Crystals, Shearing Pinx and gay beast. We only have a few copies, and the run was limited to 100 so gettum while you can. ***

T-shirt for my band gay beast...for our last tour. Was reeeeal happy with that lettering. kind of goth, kind of metal, kind of tech. It's like everything that i kind of hate, but secretly love. two color screenprint. Most of these have sold. only have ones in yellow and black I believe. GETTUM. ***

Heavy Focus, 420 Noise Festival poster. This was a fun one. the design came easy, and I was really happy with how it printed up. 3 color silkscreen. XXX

This, on the other hand was a total nightmare to print. and the design was pretty anal and annoying. You can't really see it, but there's all these teeny tiny circles, dashes and triangles on all those big circle shapes in the backround. Plus, I was experimenting with using oiled paper on my weeeeak assed exposure unit. HARD! plus that 4th layer was a full-bleeding mess. 5 colors...only like 2 left.

Slapping purses tape case. 2 colors. XXX. slapping purses is AMAZING (and I came up with the name). This tape sold out. I'm excited to do his upcoming 12'' cover design! let's cross our fingers and pray that nothing stops that from happening.

5 color Art print that I made for the Radar Eyes print show. This show is the best fucking thing that happened to me. I was totally flooored that Seripop asked me to be in it, and I can't believe that my dumb-ass art got to be on the same walls as nearly ALL of my printmaking idols. Talk about dream come true. all the heavy's Comeau, Zeloot, Maku, Pizzoli, Deforge, Bongout, Seripop...and all these other people that I didn't know about before. E-mazing. Go see the show in Houston at the ARt car museum. should be opening w/in a week or two. I'm trying to get it to come to Minneapolis. XXX Xold out at the moment. I have some that just need the last layer.

4 color art print. also for Radar Eyes. ahhhhh. Still like this one. Sometimes I don't understand the way that I think.*** I think I have 3 or 4 of these left. and they are BIG! Need to do more art prints. They are funnn, but it's hard to fit them inbetween poster gigs.

3 color silkscreened 7'' Sleeve. Split with the awesome olympia band TWIN. This was the first thing that I printed in my home studio. I believe that this is the second run of the sleeves. I remember totally crying over the first one, and printing was SO hard, because I didn't have a pressure washer yet, and I didn't have an air conditioner in my 3rd floor attic studio. so it was a VERY sweaty, shirtless, drippy time. We have like 20 of these left.

Neptune tour poster (the first one). 4 color silkscreen. this was, in my opinion, my first really good poster. I was very anal about it, but i felt like it really worked in the end. It was nice to see it hanging in a few places that we played while one tour.***

ooops. a little out of order. This was the second thing I printed in my home studio. 4 color silksscreen on orange paper. Am happy with this one, but at the time, it was very hard to work with brightly colored paper. I had a hard time controlling the colors. XXX

and there are a few prior, but they are embarrassing and ugly.
o.k. now moving on. I have TOO MANY projects to count. So I should just shut up and get back to work.

RNC....and a bunch of weirdo queeers

Today was the beginning of the Republican National Convention. Everyone was unsure if the thing would go off due to complications with hurricanes, unplanned pregnancies, and a missing prez bush...but on it went.

Minneapolis has been seriously gearing up for a ton of bullshit to go down. Activist friends have been housing other activists from out of town, meetings upon meetings have occured in radical spaces all over the city. What we didn't expect were the crazy preemtive house raids over the last two days, or that fucking Amy Goodman from democracy now would get arrested.

There will undoubtably be some fallout after both of these incidents.

I, personally had a hard time convincing myself that staging a large-scale march, or other violent/semi-violent/non-violent protest would actually DO anything constructive. I do not feel the need to build community with other back-patting activists...I like a PROJECT! a good, old-fashioned project where an outcome is clear and present.

So I decided to participate in this public performance by the artist Sharon Hayes. It was put on by Creative Time in NYC and the Walker Art Center, here in minneapolis. The performance was called Revolutionary Love 2: I am your best fantasy. Basically it was a bunch of queers, gathered together, reading this letter that Sharon had written. The letter is from the perspective of an estranged lover, and develops into a series of commands. The readers command the audience to take their queerness seriously, to understand that their experessions of love, and lust, and identity not be undermined, or depersonalized within the hubbbbub of the political process.

Me, and a whole krew (about 70 of us) all gathered at the Walker, were bussed down to a designated spot sort of away from the capitol, but still totally visible. We waited around while things got set up. We made sure out outfits were on right, and then we gathered in a square and recited the letter 3 times. Everyone was dressed to the fiercest. Drag, sexxx, weird, flapper, "punk", undressed looks were all in effect. It was kind of amazing reciting the thing. All these onlookers gathered and were taking pictures and videos. It was really cathartic to all be reading aloud from the perspective of only one person. To have all these different bodies, and experiences gathered together pushing something totally personal out into the public. Especially because we were SO out of place with all the republicans and zombie convention onlookers. It was a completely different experience than marching in a rally. It felt way more specific, and way less anonymous. So kudos to Sharon Hayes and everyone that put it on.

On a graphic note. My pal Ilana is visiting from chicago, so we decided to work on a print together. So far it's REALLY weird...and it has lots of strange drawings of exercise equipment. we'lll see how it goes.

back to the print shop tomorrow! yippeeeee!

THE LATEST!!!

I have a bunch of posters in the works right now. Here's the latest, for two rad bands NEPTUNE, and THESE ARE POWERS. They asked me to help commmemorate their shows together. GO SEE THEM IN YR TOWN...cuz they aren't coming to mine (XUCK).
This design will be tweeeked a bit and turned into an art print for my print residency at this print center here in town. Poster is a 3 color silkscreen 16.5'' X 21'' on white paper. art print will be bigger. FUNNN!

This one's a teeny bit older, but it's also a poster, that will end up being slightly modified and enlarged to become an art print. It's a print for my band GAY BEAST's show with HEALTH and ICY DEMONS a little while ago at the St. Entry. Happy with all the color overprints and am still on this kick of printing black underneath all the rest of the colors. FUNNNN! and the possibilities are endless.

For the art print, i will remove the text at the bottom, and tweak the colors a bit. will post later!
